Swift Coooperation Brings Relief to Refugees Affected by Fire in Baan Mai Nai Soi

Fire broke out in Baan Mai Nai Soi Refugee Camp in Mae Hong Son Province on 22 March. The fire burned down the shelters of 57 families, or 260 people. UNHCR immediately provided 60 plastic sheets so the families would not have to spend even one night in the open. We are working with the Thai government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to help these refugees who have lost almost all their meager possessions. We are grateful for the Thai authorities' quick response and coordination of relief efforts and for the generosity of not only NGOs, but even Thai villagers who spontaneously donated buckets, toothbrushes and towels to help the refugees.
